Unlike normal Idly this idly don’t require you to soak dal overnight.You can prepare the batter instantly and have them hot at your dining table in almost an hour.Try including lots of vegetables also according to your will and wish..
I prefer to make any meal with lots of veggies.
- sooji or semolina upma ravva-1cup
- channa dal-1 tbsp
- split uradh-1tbsp
- grated ginger-1 pod
- Mustard seeds-1/2 tbsp
- green chilies, finely chopped-3
- curry leaves -few springs
- Carrots, grated-2
- coriander leaves -2
- salt to taste
- Thick curd-beaten-1cup
- 1/4 cup water
- cashewnuts -few according to your taste:)
- 1 tbsp ghee or oil
Heat ghee or oil in a pan, add the mustard seeds,add the chana dal ,uradh dal and saute till the dal turns golden brown. Add the green chillis, curry leaves and ginger.
and saute fore few mins.Soon add the ravva and on low medium heat stir fry the rava constantly for 3 min. Let it cool.
Add curd,coriander leaves,grated ginger, water and salt and mix well. Let this ferment for atleast 1/2-1 hr
Grease idli plate with ghee or oil. Place a roasted cashewnut on each of the greased idli plates and pour the rava batter over.This is optional and feel free to skip the cashews if you don’t want to add calories 🙂
Cook/steam them on medium flame for about 15min .Let it cool down for 10 min .Remove the idlis carefully with a spoon dipped in cold water.Serve hot with your favourite chutney.Mine is Allam(ginger) Chutney 🙂
Whenever you make idlis,don;t pour the batter till the brim coz they get puffed when cooked.
