Onion Paratha | Onion stuffed Indian Bread | Pyaz Ka Paratha

June 17, 2012 by Siri

Parathas are my favourite any time. Of course when they are made with whole wheat flour only..Aloo Parathas are very famous in North India…I have tried parathas with almost all the vegatbles including onion..This onion paratha will be very crunchy and gives a total different taste. My family liked it very much and also this is very easy to prepare. This is also called as Pyaz ka paratha..
Okay now..here goes the recipe for Onion Paratha/Pyaz ka paratha…This has been lying in my drafts from so many days and came out now..as one of my readers have been asking this constantly…:)

What You need:
Wheat Flour/Atta – 1 cup

Salt to taste
Water as needed
Oil – 1tbsp
Ghee to cook parathas
For stuffing:
Onion Big chopped – 1
Green chillies finely chopped – 2
Cumin seeds – pinch
Coriander powder – a pinch
Amchoor powder – a pinch
Red chilli powder – a pinch
Chat masala powder – a pinch
Coriander seeds – 1/2 tbsp
Kasuri Methi (optional) – 1/2 tbsp
Coriander leaves chopped – 1 tbsp
Salt to  taste
How I Made:
Mix flour, water, salt into smooth dough.Apply oil generously over it and let the dough sit for minimum 30 minutes.
Mix all the ingredients given under stuffing with your hand and keep it aside.
Now make small balls out of dough and roll it to a small  flat sheet.
Put some stuffing and seal all the edges and make a ball like shape again. Now slowly roll it again into a thick flat sheet or a paratha.
Heat some ghee on the pan and cook the parathas both sides.apply some butter and serve hot with any raitha or pickle.
But it taste great with masala curd!

So how is Onion Paratha???You could even add a dash of lemon juice to the onion stuffing..
Prepare stuffing like this..

How is it.. πŸ™‚
