Green Apple Halwa | Apple Halwa | Festive Sweets Recipes

November 6, 2012 by Siri

Apple Halwa

Diwali is approaching soon and I know everybody is busy in preparing sweets and savouries for this colorful festival..Gone are the days where we used to travel to our grand parents house for festivals and enjoy the pleasure of watching them preparing sweets and snacks for us..Thosw sweet childhood memories are still fresh in my heart..Keeping this apart, sweets are an integral part of any festival for that matter to any special occasion 🙂 So I will be posting so many sweets recipes for this festive season and now comes the authentic HALWA…Apple Halwa..:)
Making halwa with apple is dead easy and it wont take much time unlike Carrot Halwa..I tried this tasty halwa with green apples as a core part, but we can use any kind of apples..You could alter the recipe by avoiding sugar and adding honey while serving as fruits contain natural sweetness anyhow..Also instead of cooking on stove top,you could microwave it for 20 minutes to get the same results..

Melting apple halwa recipe

Serves -2

Preparation time – under 45 min.

Ingredients:

  • Green or Red Apples -3
  • Milk – 1 Cup(100 ml)
  • Sugar –  50 gms
  • Ghee – 4 tbsp(adjust according to your taste, the more you add the more taste)
  • Cardamom crushed – 3
  • Orange food colour – a pinch(optional)
  • Almonds sliced -5
Method:

Wash and peel the apples and cut into cubes.I didn’t peel them, but peeling them will give your best results.

Blend them into  coarse mixture,If you have patience you could even grate them 🙂

Melt some ghee in a heavy bottomed pan.Add in the apple core and stir well on high flame for few minutes until the moisture disappears.

Add in milk and sugar.Cook on high flame for 3 minutes by stirring.

Then cover with a lid and cook on low flame for 20 minutes.Add in a pinch of food colour and cook for another five min.

Garnish with almond slices. You could even spoon some honey or hot ghee over the halwa to give it a kick.
Take your beautiful apples..I used only 3 for the halwa

Chop them up..

And blend into coarse mixture

Melt ghee..

And start sauting apple core

until water evaporates

And add in sugar

And then pour in milk..

throw in your crushed cordamom

And cook for 20 min..add in food colour

and cook for 5 more minutes..
Garnish with almonds or any dry fruits..It turned out so yummy and I served it hot to my mom and bro on a cold evening 🙂
I love my cute apple hearts 🙂

Need a spoonful??

    Looks yummy. And healthy 🙂
Can I chop the apples instead of grinding them? I dont have a grinder.
Will this work without the food color?
