How to make Tomato Puree | Tomato Puree Recipe | Cooking Basics

November 26, 2012 by Siri

Tomato purée is used in so many dishes including vegetarian ,non-vegetarian items and also so many kinds of rice and soups. It is also used in making jams, salsa and spreads, sauces, ketchupsWe often get confused what is meant by tomato puree..Altogether it is an important ingredient in any cuisine across the globe. So I decided myself to make a separate post on making tomato puree ,such that it may be useful for at least some one…
You could make this purée and in large batches and freeze it for future use,but this is very simple to make,I prefer to make it freshly and instantly..You will just need some good red and ripen tomatoes to prepare this fine puree.

Ingredients are simple,tomatoes and water.

Pick up some fresh, red, ripen and firm tomatoes

Tomato Puree Recipe:
1.Heat water in a sauce pan and immerse tomatoes in it.Put on high flame foe 2 mins and then reduce the flame.Boil them by covering with a lid for 15 mins.

2. Once you open the lid you will see the skin of the tomatoes leaving the body of it. Switch off the stove and allow them to cool down for some time.

3.Remove the skin of the tomatoes,it will come out easily. Then blend in the tomatoes into fine puree.Store the puree in zip lock bags and freeze it for future use if you wish.

Beautiful tomato puree will be ready to use in your favourite curries, jams, sauces and soups,

TIP 1 : Pick up good ripen tomatoes to get maximum juice content.

TIP 2 : Once you remove the skin, don’t throw it away.Just rub them on your face to remove any dirt or oiliness. Its acts as a good cleanser.

TIP 3 : You could even make use of the skin in sambar or gravies.

Now you can use this puree in any curries, rice dishes or soups..
See you..until next post..
