Creamy Chicken Pakora | Chicken Pakoda | Murgh Pakora

December 12, 2012 by Siri

Chicken Pakoda is a famous Indian Street Food item also called Indian Chicken Fritters and is loved all over the country.Any non-veg lover would hardly resist themselves while passing by a road side food junction which sells these hot chicken pakoras..These crispy chicken pakodas are sure everyone’s favourite, super tasty and delicious.Lets learn how to make these chicken pakoras through step by step pictures today..

I tried a different version of chicken pakoras by marinating the chicken in cashews but you can feel free to use gram flour. Also chicken pakoras are usually deep fried in oil but I baked them to avoid excess fat and oil.. Of course the taste differs a bit but you will have to compromise if you are health freak:)

Cooking time – less than 45 min
Serves -3

Ingredients:

  • Boneless Chicken cubed – 500gm
  • Cashews – 50 gms
  • Curd – 4 tbsp
  • Milk – 1/2 cup
  • Cream – 1/4 cup
  • Green Chillies -6
  • Coriander powder – 2 tbsp
  • Pepper – 1/2 tbsp
  • Garam Masala powder – 1/2 tbsp
  • Cumin powder – 1 tbsp
  • Ginger Garlic Paste – 1 tbsp
  • Red chilli powder – 1tbsp
  • Corn Flour – 2 tbsp
  • Bread crumbs – 3 tbsp
  • Salt to taste

Method:

1.Mix cashews, green chillies and milk together and blend into smooth paste.

2.Beat thick curd into a bowl and add cumin, coriander, pepper powders,Pour in the cashews paste and also add ginger garlic paste.Beat well with a spoon till a semi thick batter forms.

3.The batter should be like this.It should be neither runny nor too thick. Then pour in some thick cream

4.Drop in all the chicken pieces and and coat the pieces well with the batter.Add in corn flour and mix again..This will give  a little crispiness to the dish as we have not used gram flour.

5.At last add in garam masala and bread crumbs and mix well. You can adjust salt at last as all these spice powders will add some salt nature to the batter,Let it marinate for at least 1 to 2 hours.

6.Pre-heat the oven to its max temperature.Line up a baking tray with a silver foil and arrange the chicken pieces.Bake them for 20-25 minutes by flipping over in between.Serve hot with onion and lemon.I served it with some hot onion chutney and capsicum salad.

TIP 1 : Use gram flour instead of cashew paste to get a authentic real taste of pakoras.

TIP 2 : You can also prepare fish pakoras using this same method.

TIP 3 : Slit the chicken pieces to make the juices enter into the pieces.
